SO LUCKY SO FAR

This piece is a hand painted Dickies Eisenhower jacket.

Exploring new texture and depth on wearable textiles, this piece taught me throughout the process. As I applied the paint, it began with a slight transparency. This inspired me to utilize it to bring some insinuation of light and shadow across the fur of the bunny and spikes of the collar. In contrast, the lettering is opaque, crisp-edged and untextured. Although I had inclinations to embellish these letters, ultimately the piece seemed to settle on their simplicity. Im pleased with that decision.

To make the artwork wash safe I mixed acrylic paint with Golden’s GAC 900 and heat set it.
